Museum Tours

For additional learning and engagement with Nigerian arts and artefacts in London museums, a number of educational visits to museums have been organised:

The British Museum and Horniman Museum & Gardens

40 people drawn from various communities, professions and backgrounds ((students, heritage officers and enthusiasts, librarians, etc.), will undertake guided educational visits to The Sainsbury’s African Gallery at The British Museum and to the Horniman Museum and Gardens.  Guided by archivists and curators with vast experience and knowledge of identifying and explaining the Nigerian heritage, participants will have the unique opportunity to view and learn more about the Nigerian/African heritage in the museums’ collections.

African/Nigerian Supplementary School

25 people (children, young people, parents and teachers) from an African/Nigerian Supplementary School, will participate in an educational visit to the Museum of London Docklands.  They will learn about the museum’s collections referencing Nigerian heritage and how the project resonates with the museum’s London, Sugar & Slavery gallery.
